"Loneliness is a power that we possess to give or take away forever." -Yes

anorexic beauty

What a sad sad world we live in. Where there are websites that actually promote anorexia. I went to google to look up anorexia statistics, and within the recommended searches was "anorexia tips". Awful. It just makes me so, so sad.

1-5% of girls will be anorexic at one point in their life. That is scary high. And terribly sad. When I was 14/15 I was anorexic, but thankfully I live with a doctor, so they saw what was happening to me really early and I was saved before things got to far. But I understand how easy it is to feel the pressure to be thin.

Beauty is NOT size. Please understand that. No one should have to go through that in order to feel good about themselves, because I guarantee going through anorexia does nothing but make you feel worse about yourself. No matter how thin you get, it will never be thin enough.

This video, I saw like 3 years ago, still really gets to me. It is so well done, and just shows what kind of skewed world we live in.

You are all beautiful.

the seaweed is always greener....

RIP my little buddy.

You made my drunk nights just a little bit better with your presence.

Sebastian McMahonRiessDavisEdwardsChignall
born: sometime in 2010, I assume
died: sometime between Saturday and Today.

Goodbye, little one.

I am extremely sad to announce the death of my house's beautiful pet crab, Sebastian. Although we cannot for sure say what his cause of death was, I assume it was nothing short of being completely epic. After all, he did escape from the tank.

I don't believe in heaven, but for some reason crab heaven seems more plausible.. I hope you are skittering around there, Sebastian. And I hope, if you encounter fidler crabs - that you take as much pleasure ripping their claws off as you did with Fidel and Castro. You were always such a tough guy, yet you never pinched us - and let us hold you.

I am truly sad you are gone. You were my favourite part of the fish tank (other than Lizzie, who is also dead). Now all I have left out of the three members of the tank that I ever loved is Rasputin. But.. don't tell Rasputin.. he is no you, Sebastian.

my absence

Sorry I haven't been around here lately, posting interesting things and such..

The thing is, is that I am busy having a LIFE :)

But, I might as well try to fill you in on what's up!

First, the greasy ol river rock. Yes, the one that I was "warned" to stay away from (see the "threat" here). It was a pretty fun time, but unfortunately I barely saw anyone I knew. And the people I did know, apparently I gave dirty looks too. DID NOT. hahaha, it must have been the drunk eyes I had rockin' all night. It was actually pretty fun to be back in Chatham, and see all my greasy friends. I can't wait to see what else this week has in store for me.

Second, I have spent some quality time with the fam jam at the cottage out in ole Port Lambton! Where we spent the entire time gorging on pita and dips, and Mennonite sausage (have I ever mentioned that I come from a Mennonite family? Well, long story short: I do!). But the highlight of the cottage time, other than cuddling with my puppies was playing Settlers of Catan! If you have never played this game, oh boy, you are MISSING out. There is no game that gets me going quite like this game! It is like risk, but a million times better. My favourite part of the game is the constant asking of "got any wood?" hahahaha. immature, but funny. Especially when the people you are playing with are mature adults in medical school or full time actuaries.. but you know.. you gotta give into your little immature self once in a while.

Anyway, not much else. Been seeing my amazing friends, which is, uh, amazing. To say the least. And relaxing. My goal this week is to get some work done, hit the gym A LOT, see my friends as much as possible, do some state side shopping, and just relax. Because my March is absolutely crazy, I need this last week of relaxation.

Hope all is well with you guys!

Stumbling Along

Oh, hi.

So, I have been stumbling since I can remember. But, really, probably since first year I have been an avid stumbler. It is the absolutely perfect study break, except sometimes a single stumble can turn into 10, or 20, or... you get the point.

If you don't stumble, or don't know what it is - check it out HERE! It is so easy to get started, you just pick some things you are interested in, download the toolbar - and BAM, free and endless entertainment.

Here are some of my favourite things I have stumbled upon the last few days, enjoy!

Seriously, if a membrane was THIS simple, I would be in heaven.

Now, I must be off to 8:30 cell biology. To learn more about the cytoskeleton (which is the complex area under the membrane, not shown here, of course)! WOO HOO!

Obsessed with Oats

I am a huge fan of breakfast, I am not always that hungry, but I know I will feel 10x better the rest of the day if I start my morning off right - and break the fast. Lately, I have been eating the exact same breakfast every single day: oatmeal! To be more specific, oatmeal made with 1/2 water and 1/2 milk and 6 almonds!

Not only is this meal super delicious, nor do I like it just because it keeps my belly full and warm all morning, but it is a POWER-HOUSE for nutrition. You honestly can't really beat it.

Both oats and almonds raise your HDLs (good cholesterol) while lowering your LDLs (BAD BAD BAD cholesterol). With this fact alone you can understand why eating these foods help lower your risk of heart disease - which btw is a major killer of women.

I can't even blog about all the benefits because honestly, there are too many. So I will link you to two sites, explaining how awesome these foods are! Click here to find out more about oatmeal and click here for almonds!

Eskimo Kisses

Can you tell who the real eskimos are vs. the two drunken girls?

I know. Impossible to tell the difference.

KP works for me

best quote I have ever, EVER heard:

"You're right. I need to start expressing my emotions more. Or hiding my lack of them."

heartless, I tell ya!

But really, I love this girl.
Mostly just because she finds me hilarious, which no one does.
She appreciates anti-jokes almost as much as I do.
She likes emo music.
And, she has great advice.

I knew there was a reason I keep her around.

my life be like ooooh aaaaah

UPDATE: Already someone on formspring asked about this, kind of implying I was starting the drama myself, but I think they totally missed my point. I am not trying to make people leave me alone, they have!! Everything is amazing right now, I havent been this happy in a really long time :) I just can't stand how much information everyone has on each other. Even within friend groups. It just really astonishes me. And I wish everyone would give everyone an equal chance without getting these (likely) incorrect first impressions on social network sites.

I love blogging, I love tweeting, and I enjoy facebook. These are all things I use because really, they are fun and make me feel good. But the last few months they have made me really sketched out. Because people I don't know, people I have never met seem to know exactly who I am. And they "know me". People are using these social networks are negative tools for destruction against each other. It has turned into this hugely negative thing.

I am really starting to hate Chatham (my home town). It is such a small town, and it is full of gossip. Everyone always seems to know each others business. And when you don't know the gossip on someone, don't even worry, because guaranteed you know someone who knows something. You can't get away. Your secrets are never safe.

All I know, is that the chances of me living in Chatham this summer are slim to none. I am so over gossip. Everyone there needs to grow up and get satisfaction from their own lives. Instead of mine.

Rant = Over

If I ever just get up, and go.
And no one has any clue where I am.
I can bet you, I will be someplace like this.

my brand new: POP MACHINE

Yes, you heard me. A pop machine.

This is probably the single greatest thing that I have ever owned, and I have had it for a day and I am already saying it has changed my life. For real.

I, like many other university students, require an energy drink or two to get me through the day. At $2-4 a can, this is a pretty pricey requirement. Now, I can enjoy a delicious energy drink for just about $0.25 - and it only has 35 calories, and no scary chemicals, and NO high fructose corn syrup.

This goes for all of the soda flavors offered by the Soda Stream company. They never use high fructose corn syrup (and just in case you didn't know - this stuff is the devil, the body automatically stores it as fat).

The process of making pop may seem daunting, but it is so easy - even I can do it, so come on.. how hard could it really be?

You just fill the bottle with water, screw it in, press the button 1-3 times (depending how carbonated you want it) and then add the flavor you would like!

The kit I got came with the machine, a CO2 container, a sample size of all the flavors - and 3 sparkling water flavors. Only $99! You can check out the website here. I also got 2 extra things of energy drink, a diet grapefruit and a sprite (which each cost $5 and make 50 servings! Talk about a value).

All the regular sodas are still way better for you than normal pop. 1 cup of soda stream pop is ~35 calories, compared to the ~100 you would get from the average cup! And like I said before, no fat inducing syrups. And, I just found this out, in the diet sodas there is no aspartame. None! Imagine that.

So go ahead, come on over, and enjoy a cup of pop guilt free. In many ways. No diet guilt (we can drink as much pop as we want and still be skinny, yeehaww), no energy guilt (yeah. that's right, it uses NO energy), and no waste guilt (you make it in a re-usable bottle, as opposed to the cans and bottles of pop we throw away normally). Not a pop person? Can I offer you a glass of flavored sparkling water? No.. how about an energy drink?

Anyway, I am really excited. And don't be jealous because I am an excellent sharer.

10 points for GRIFFINDOR!

I am very happy to announce that my sister just got accepted to the University of Guelph (and why wouldn't have she, this kid hasn't got a mark below 90 since she was born). She will be joining the greatest ranks of Edwards children who attended this prestigious school before her (myself and Dale, that is). I am so happy that my little sis will soon be a Gryphon! Welcome to the club, sis! We are lucky to have ya!

I accept that you may have religion, just please, don't ever try to push that onto me. I believe in science, because I believe in truth. The power of science has simply brought about more miracles and explanations than anything else in this world ever has, and ever will. Watch this video, not only is it catchy but some really powerful things are said. PS - this may or may not be my ring tone (hehehehhehe)

What worries me about religion is that it teaches people to be satisfied with not understanding.

sister love

my sister just visited me in Guelph - only for a night, but it was a great one! I am sad she has left me already though. But, no sadness here because after this weekend I think she is pretty convinced that Guelph is the school for her! Go Gryphons! Hehehe, he we are - in my ghetto kitchen!

I am so happy this past year me and my sister have gotten to be so close. With an age difference of 3 years - it was definitely hard at times to see eye to eye. But these days, we barely fight (aside from making fun of each other, and by each other I mean Brooke making fun of me. yeahhhhh.)

Anyway, I have to thank Brooke. Because not only did she treat me to a starbucks run this morning (full fat caramel macchiato, mmmmmmmmmmmmm), but she also provided me with the biggest laugh I have had in a LONG while. I don't even need to describe what happened, just look at the picture. Bahahahah, best fall I have seen in forever. And note Bunky in the background, who also came and spent the night here in Guelph. It was great to see her, too, but I think she missed being around the 4 other dogs she normally lives with!

So, that is all I have to say. If you have sisters and haven't talked to them in a while, it might be nice to remind them how much they mean to you! Have a very happy weekend!

macadamia oil

Hello hair savior! I just want to say THANK YOU for taking my dry, cracking hair, and turning it into soft and luscious blonde locks - in a matter of DAYS. I am not kidding, this stuff is heaven sent!

That there is the healing oil, which is definitely very worth the expensive price ($13 for just 1oz). But you need like nothing, and you notice it working immediately. This is the stuff that got me hooked, my sister had some and let me borrow it once - months ago, before I killed my hair, and I was in love.

However, after I killed my hair, I realized that I needed to get some of this stuff for myself. And I ended up buying the healing gift set, which includes the rejuvenating shampoo, healing oil and the deep repair masque - all for only $40. Which is a ridiculous price (separately purchased its $21 + $13 + $30)

Honestly, not only does this stuff save your hair in a matter of days, but it also smells delicious. And it is a natural oil product, no gross chemicals. Really, I can't promote this stuff more. If you have split ends or dry/dead hair then this stuff is a must for you! As I've said before - never cheap out when it comes to your hair! You don't want to learn that lesson the hard way (trust me)

who i am

one year: congrats nick.

If you haven't heard the song, or seen the video - its pretty moving stuff. Nothing like the Jonas Brother's stuff. I really really like the direction Nick went with his band. You should check it out right here

I do want someone to love me for who I am.

I also want people to stop spreading an imagine of who I'm not.

If you want to get to know me, I am pretty open. Just talk to me. Stop playing these catty little games. I am not jealous, nor petty. I am me, and trust me, I am beyond satisfied with that.

Be true to yourself, that is the best thing you can do.

Live life for YOU. Don't live to only please others.
